Role 01 · Client

Designer Furniture Consultant

Help clients make a small number of good decisions: the right piece, finish, scale and delivery route. This is considered guidance rather than pressure-led retail.

What the work includes

  • Understand rooms, routines, access, budget and timing before recommending a piece.
  • Explain materials, finishes, dimensions, care and the difference between confirmed stock, overseas supply and made-to-order production.
  • Prepare clear enquiries and quotations, then keep one accountable client handover from selection to delivery.
  • Support residential, hospitality and workplace clients by video, email and appointment.
  • Record what was promised so product, freight and client information remain traceable.

What we are looking for

  • Furniture, interiors, architecture, hospitality or design-retail experience.
  • Strong written communication and calm commercial judgement.
  • Comfort reading specifications and saying “we will confirm” when evidence is incomplete.
  • Australian work rights and practical access to Sydney or Melbourne for occasional project or warehouse visits.

Role 02 · Editorial

Furniture & Design Curator

Build the record behind the catalogue. The curator connects a maker’s official sources, designer authorship, object history and Objena’s point of view without turning research into generic marketing copy.

What the work includes

  • Research houses, designers, production, materials and care using primary sources.
  • Write and fact-check collection profiles, product records, Q&A and Journal features.
  • Track image, film and technical-file rights; never treat an internet image as a free asset.
  • Maintain structured records that Codex, Claude and future editors can audit.
  • Work with consultants so editorial claims match the real ordering and service position.

What we are looking for

  • Editorial, curatorial, design-history, architecture, research or copy experience.
  • An exacting eye for provenance, captions, credits and the difference between fact and interpretation.
  • A concise portfolio showing judgement, not simply volume.
  • Fluent English; additional language research capability is welcome.
